Des Moines is a waterfront community located halfway between Seattle and Tacoma. So named from its original inhabitants who migrated from Des Moines, Iowa, the city is bordered by Federal Way to the south, Burien to the north, SeaTac to the northeast and Normandy Park to the northwest.
