First Hill

Hence the name, First Hill is the first hill east of downtown Seattle. The neighborhood is bounded by Interstate 5 to the west, Capitol Hill to the north, and the International District to the south. Conveniently located to downtown, First Hill rose to popularity for Seattle's elite class in the late 19th century and is now the 4th most walkable neighborhood in Seattle. The Hill is now commonly referred to as "Pill Hill," due to the high concentration of top-rated health care facilities - Harborview Medical Center, Swedish Medical Center, and Virginia Mason Medical Center - as well as Puget Sound Blood Center. First Hill is also home to Seattle University, Northwest School, Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, O'Dea High School, Frye Art Museum, and Town Hall.
